1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies such as local storage and session storage where described below. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
2. How we use cookies
We group cookies into four categories:
- Strictly necessary, required for security, authentication and consent storage. These cannot be disabled while using the site.
- Functional, optional preferences that improve your experience.
- Analytics, help us understand aggregated traffic and improve GoAustria. Only placed with your consent.
- Marketing, not currently in use. If introduced later, we will request consent first.

4. Managing your preferences
On your first visit, we show a consent banner with three clear options: Accept all, Reject non-essential, and Customise. You can change your selection at any time using Cookie settings in the site footer.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent login and other core features from working.
5. ePrivacy and GDPR
Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (as implemented in Austrian telecommunications law) and the GDPR, we obtain consent before placing non-essential cookies. Essential cookies are used based on our legitimate interest in providing a secure, functioning service.
6. Updates
If we add new cookies or partners, we will update this policy and, where required, request your consent again.
